Finishes

Wood needs to have a finish applied in order to protect and enhance it. There are many treatments available but Matthew prefers to use water-based and environmentally friendly products wherever possible. Many pieces are oiled as several coats of oil bring a lasting lustre to the wood. Matthew also uses shellac, waxes, stains and paints according to his customers' requirements.

Stencilling

Stencils, which may be hand-cut with overlays in several parts, are often inspired by the farm and wildlife surrounding the workshop.
